Saturday Day 7 - Spencer to Sioux Center - 64 miles

Today is the last day of IARBGAR - we made it to Sioux Center, for the start of RAGBRAI !! Today's ride was 64 miles, so our total milage since we left Dubuque last Sunday is 419 miles. The past 7 days have been great. We were the only bicycles on the road for most of the ride, but that changed today. The closer we got to Sioux Center the more bicycle traffic we ran into.

We left Spencer pretty early today, around 7:00 am. We had to put on our rain gear, since it was sprinkling and storms were passing through. It never did rain very hard on us, but we could see lightening off in distance and the roads were wet.

The skies cleared after about an hour. We stopped in Primghar for some snack and talked to some other baggers from team Joker. We saw a tractor parade on the way to Hospers, where we ate a nice broasted chicken lunch.

The town of Hospers Iowa has a bunch of neat sculptures around town. After lunch we ran into the baggers again at the Kum an Go food store, and we drank a beer and talked about bicycles and why Iowa can't pass a 3-foot bike law.

Our last 10 miles into Sioux City was a bit rough on me - I overheated and had to lay in the shade for a few minutes. We went to the big bike expo in town and I bought Bev a new water bottle ( a joke, we've got ten million water bottles in the house ).

We rode back to the Team Sprint campsite at Shady Holler Campground. It was great to see all the old friends, but I was exhausted and was trying to put away bags and other stuff from bike I don't need this week. I went to bed too tired to post my blog last night !!
